With no dodge cancel it's just infuriating. Or the one I'm hitting just decides to break out of being staggered mid combo and body me. Great, I dodged an enemy, I get 1 hit into my counter and then some stupid purple knight destroys me from off screen. Baiting out dodgeable moves can work, but often fails due to the first point of enemies charging in from off screen.
Most enemies have a lot of resilience making them difficult to stagger, meaning that actually trying to hit anything is risky because they might just hit me instead. Most fights have 3+ enemies, which means that I'm constantly getting targeted by melee charge attacks coming in from off screen with no warning.
Maybe I just need to not use alphen, but it's like the setup of the encounters here is deliberately designed to be as annoying as possible. I'm playing on moderate difficulty and am in the fifth lord's castle and I have to say I am rapidly souring on this game.
